Jesús Rueda was born in Madrid in 1961. He studied piano with Joaquín Soriano and Harmony with Emilio López at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. During the period 1980-84 be studied compositíon with Luis de Pablo and later with Francisco Guerrero. In the following years, be attended with a grant to the composítion courses gíven by Giacomo Manzoni, Armando Gentilucci and Luigi Nono in the Granada Festivals '85 and '88. He has worked the electroacustic music with H. Vaggione at the Gabinete de Música Electroacústica in Cuenca. He has won several composition prizes: lst prize Madrid City Hall 1989, lst prize Spanish Authors Society (SGAE) in two consecutive editions (1990 and 1991), Prize ICONS (Torino) 1991, Prize Forum junger Komponisten W/DR Kõ1n 1992, Príze Colegio de Espana (Paris). His works have been selected by Gaudeamus Music Week 1990 (Amsterdam), World Music Days (ISCM), Ziiricb 1991, Tribuna de la Fundación Juan March 1987, Ars Musica (Brussels). He has received commissions by CDMC, Ministry of Culture of Spain, Ensemble InterContemporain and foreígn ensembles, and his works have been performed by Ensemble InterContemporain, Xenaquis Ensemble, EM. Uitti, Arditti String Quartet, Grupo Koan, John Snijders, Royal College of London, Ensemble L'Itinéraire, Nuove Sincronie Ensemble, Attaca Berlin, etc. He won the Rome Príze at the Spanish Academy of Rome in the year 95-96, and in the next year he was "composer in residence' of the Spanish Youth National Orchestra (JONDE). His works will be performed by the JONDE in occasion of the tournée of the Orchestra in the European culture capitals in the year 2000 (EFNYO).
