Manfrin Luigi

Born in Melbourn (Australia), L. Manfrin studied music composition at the G. Verdi Conservatory. He then went on to complete his specialization with Franco Donatoni at the Civic School of Milan, at the Chigiana Academy of Siena (Italy), where he was awarded the prestigious diploma with honors, as well as at the Academy of S. Cecilia in Rome. In 2004 he attended the International Summer of composition at Darmstadt, and in 2007 he was selected for the Atelier d'IRCAM computer music of ACHANTES (Metz). Manfrin's work has been performed at important contemporary music festivals: Milano Musica (Festival G. Kurtag - 1998), Festival Nuove Sincronie (Milan), Gaudeamus Foundation (Amsterdam), Festival internacional Cervantino (Mexico), Circolo Baratelli(L'Aquila), Oberdan Musica (Milan), Mantova musica contemporaneaSociétè de Musique Contemporaine (Lausanne), Festival 5 Giornate (Milan), Festival Eterotopie(Mantova), at the Hochschule Für Musik of Bavaria, the Sibelius theater (Helsinki), theHopetoun Alpha of Aukland (New Zealand), the Accademia d'Ungheria of Rome, theCAMeC of La Spezia, the Rive-Gauche Concerti of Turin, the Muziek & Kunst of Amsterdam, the University of Aveiro (Portugal), the BKA of Berlin, and at the Rassegna Rondò 2006 and 2009 of Divertimento Ensemble (Milan). Manfrin has won several prestigious composition competitions and his music has been broadcast by the radio station Rai 3. In 2002, he received a degree in philosophy (full marks and honors), with a thesis entitled "SPETTROMORFOLOGIA «Durée Réelle» la presenza di Bergson nel pensiero musicale di Gérard Grisey" (Spectromorphology and «Durée Réelle», the presence of Bergson in the musical thought of Gérard Grisey). Manfrin is also active in the permanent philosophy seminar of Musica di Milano. His scores are published Suvini Zerboni, (Milan).
