Cacciatore Maurilio

Maurilio Cacciatore was born the 03/06/1981. After his studies in piano, composition and electronic music in Italy and Sweden, he got the composition diploma with best marks in the class of Ivan Fedele at the Conservatory of Strasbourg (France) and he awarded the prix Sacem for composition. He continues studying with Ivan Fedele at the Academy of S. Cecilia in Rome. Between 2009 and 2010, he has followed the Cursus I at IRCAM (Paris). Over the teaching of Ivan Fedele, the encounter with Michael Jarrell, Georges Aperghis and Yan Maresz and the relation with interpreters as Armand Angster and Mario Caroli contribute to build his first aesthetic and compositional ideas.

In 2006 he was finalist at the International Composition Competition Music Today of Seoul (South Korea) and the American association Vox Novus selected him to make several concerts. In 2007 he was mentioned at the international Composition Competition of Povoletto (Udine, Italy) that he won in 2009 with Yakamoz, for piano. In the same year he has been mentioned in the "E. Carella" international Award with Stesso Obliquo, for flute and vibraphone.

Starting from 2004, year of his first performance abroad at the Siren Festival of Göteborg (Sweden), his music was performed in several countries in Europe, in the United States, Korea, Japan and Australia. In 2008 the Voix de Strass conducted by Catherine Bolzinger recorded his Due Anfibi, for twelve amplified voices.

In the musicological domain, he has made conferences for the Fonoteca Umberto Trotta, the Foundation Valentino Bucchi of Rome and the Universities of Mainz and Seoul. He is among the founders of the ensemble L'Imaginaire of Strasbourg.

Recently he has been selected by the Royaumont Foundation and the IRCAM to follow the Cursus II.
