FIFTY YEARS SINCE HIS DEATH
After the edition published in 2002 was sold out, Edizioni Suvini Zerboni / Gruppo Sugarmusic S.p.A. are pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of this extraordinary volume of around 600 pages that presents itself as perhaps the most exhaustive scientific study ever carried out on the Italian composer's entire oeuvre, with regard to the systematic cataloguing of all his works, published and unpublished. A 'True Dallapiccoli Bible', as Quirino Principe defines it in a paradigmatic preface. A volume that will prove to be an irreplaceable working tool for those who wish to approach the work of Luigi Dallapiccola (music operators, musicologists, performers) and that is published fifty years after his death.
EXCERPT FROM THE PREFACE BY QUIRINO PRINCIPE
When the first edition of the volume L'opera di Luigi Dallapiccola. Catalogo ragionato by Mario Ruffini, I was speechless for a few moments. I did not know Ruffini, but his volume just published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni (Dallapiccola's historic publisher) immediately appeared to me as a true Dallapiccola bible. There really was everything Dallapiccola in that 'Catalogue'. And it was the first time that, thinking about a cataloguing, I felt the tremor of passion: that of a scholar who had clearly dedicated years to achieve such a stunning completeness as that which came out of that volume. After more than twenty years, with the first edition sold out, the need and urgency for a second edition arose. Here it is, like a gift born in Laura Dallapiccola's name.
